Striker Geoffrey Massa who will skipper the Cranes away in Lome, Togo in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) Group E tie on Wednesday says Uganda is focused on winning. The team arrived in Lome Togo at 1.05pm local time and was booked in at Hotel Sarakawa just a few metres away from the Atlantic Ocean.
The striker takes over the leadership of the team in the absence of Andrew Mwesigwa who is suspended after accumulating two yellow cards.
“We have to be very focused for the away game because it means a lot to us after losing the game against Togo on Saturday,” Massa says.
Massa who has netted four goals in the 2015 Afcon qualifiers so far will be making his first away trip in the campaign after he was kept out because of issues with his Club. Massa will however try to be cautious to try and avoid accumulating another booking as he is a card away from suspension.
First choice goalkeeper Dennis Onyango is in unison; “It was bad we lost at home a game we should have won. But we need to pick ourselves up quickly and focus on the game on October 15. Although we shall have to work very hard, we can also pick a win from Lome.”
The Cranes are now second in Group E behind Ghana who play Guinea in Tamale on Wednesday too.
