Uganda Christian University men’s team (Canons) will be back in action on Wednesday night against Ndejje Angels in the Airtel National Basketball League.
While winning 73-65 against Charging Rhinos meant a lot for UCU a few weeks ago, UCU will have a quick turnaround of emotions as they square off tonight against fellow University side Ndejje Angels at YMCA Courts tonight.
The Mukono based side is targeting a turnaround of fortunes after a disheartening first round performance in which they posted five losses and eight wins out of 13 games.
UCU’s point guard Boniface Okello said that they are a changed team and are confidence that they will execute good defense in this round.
After nearly settling bottom in the first round games, UCU held a meeting and determined they cannot continue to play like they had. The result has been two straight victories in this round.
The two top flight teams ended their first round clash with a 59-39 score in favour of UCU. The Mukono based side also boosts players like Ivan Rumanyika, who represented the country in the just concluded Zone 5, Sudi Ulanga and Martin Okwako.
Ndejje, on the other side enjoyed their best ever campaign last season, underlined by a first ever win over Power. But thus far, they have struggled to replicate their best of last season after losing 67-69 to Kampala International University (KIU) at the weekend.
