Bwire Worried About Saints Defensive Frailties

Saints1The Saints FC captain Godfrey Bwire says the Popes must work on their porous defence if they are to contest for Uganda Premier League automatic qualification.

The FUFA Big league side has conceded in each of their last three games played in the Rwenzori group which tallied three goals.
Also, the team’s backline was susceptible to set pieces and it was evident in the matches against JMC, Ndejje and Water FC on Saturday at Namboole.

Saints nearly made it to Uganda’s top tier division last season but their defence leaked unnecessarily to their disadvantage and Bwire says they must solidify their rear in order to mount a challenge this term.

“If you watch our past three games, we have been conceding through set pieces and sometimes we don’t clean sheets and that have been our problems and we will try and work on it,” Bwire said after their 1-1 draw against unbeaten Water FC in what was an epic clash that moved the home side backup to third place.

The two sides were meeting for the first time in the football history and either had a record to protect. New signing Fred Kyambadde was on target for the home side just before halftime but visitors immediately scored to level matters through their forward Senyonjo. “Any opponent we play against even if we score more goals they score.” Their next game will be next Saturday at Namboole stadium against Sporting United.
