There were big wins for champions Kobs and Heathens as Uganda’s Rugby Premiership kicked off on Saturday 1 November.
A new look Kobs side with Keith Seruyange at Fullback, Joseph Aredo at fly half, Derrick Tuktawsiwe at lock and Adnan Mutebi as eight man looked like that they had been playing together for some good time because of the chemistry with which they operated started their title defense in emphatic fashion, posting a crushing 68-0 result over Impis in match day one one action at the Legends Grounds in Kampala.
The day’s early kick off at the same venue saw Rhinos edge Pirates 12-5 while Sadolin Mongers posted a narrow 21-17 win over Toyota Buffaloes in Entebbe. The sole fixture played at the Kyadondo Grounds saw hosts Heathens rout Mutoni Warriors 64-3.
Meanwhile in the ladies category Thunderbirds whipped Black Panthers 41-5 at Kyadondo Rugby Club ground.
Christine Kizito and Matilda Tino made two tries each as Samiya Ayikoru, Asha Nakityo, and Rachael Kakaire added a try each and Helen Gizamba managed Panthers’ consolation try.
