The president’s convoy was involved in an accident on Monday evening along the Kampala-Gulu highway. The accident occurred at Nakitoma trading center in Masindi district.
Poly Namaye, the deputy police spokesperson says one of the vehicles in the president’s convoy veered off the road in an attempt to avoid a head-on collusion with a coach number UAG 414F belonging to Otada Bus Company. Nobody was injured.
President Yoweri Museveni was not in the convoy by the time of the accident.
Namaye blames the bus driver Samuel Olet, who is at large for refusing to give way to the presidential convoy. She says police have since impounded the Otada bus and are now hunting for Olet to answer for reckless driving.
Namaye lists some of the vehicles that were involved in the accident as a Fuso truck number UAN 054A, Toyota premio UAG 414F, Land cruisers UG2076C, UG1912C and Ambulance UG 1835C. She says all the vehicles have been inspected by the inspector of vehicles.
