Tanzanian international, star shooting guard, Sudi Ulanga scored a series-high26 points as the Uganda Christian University Canons overcame a 2 -point first-quarter deficit to beat the Krishna Falcons in the Airtel National Basketball League play-offs on Sunday night.

The spotlight was on Kenyan centre Desmond Owili in a winner-takes-all game three who returned with 11 points and 8 rebounds after he sat out the entire season serving a ban from local basketball body (Fuba) for his physical altercation on umpire Peter Kirabo last year.

Ironically, it was at the same stage and the Canons ended up losing 76-82 to Falcons, who went on to make it to the finals.

Uganda national team skipper Steven Omony was Falcons’ top scorer with 21 points and 6 rebounds in the thriller.

Coach Nick Natuhereza’s side will now face with defending champions City Oilers in the best-of-five semi finals starting Wednesday at YMCA.
