Uganda Gets More Army Generals

The President of the Republic of Uganda and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces, Gen Yoweri Museveni has pronounced the promotion of 1372 UPDF officers in eleven categories covering all Services of the UPDF.

Among the categories are four senior Officers promoted to Generalship. They are Col Innocent Oula, Col George Igumba, Col Geofrey Katsigazi and Col Tom Tumuhairwe who were all promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.

In other categories, 03 Acting Colonels were confirmed to the rank of Colonel, 33 Lieutenant Colonels were promoted to Colonel, 13 Acting Lieutenant Colonels were confirmed to Lieutenant Colonel and 84 Majors promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.

Others are 08 Acting Majors confirmed to Major, 206 Captains were promoted to Major, 05 Acting Captains were confirmed as Captains and 624 Lieutenants promoted to Captain.

The Commander-in-Chief also promoted 386 officers from the probation rank of Second Lieutenants to Lieutenants and commissioned 06 Other Ranks to the rank of Second Lieutenant.

Among the promoted is the Public Relations Officer (PROs) of Air Forces, Captain Tabaro Kiconco who was elevated to the rank of Major.

The promotion is in line with professionalization of the UPDF. The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Edward Katumba Wamala congratulates all those promoted and wishes them good performance in their new ranks.
