Big Time Events Chief executive Officer, Joseph Keneth Onen, has threatened to drag Joseph Mayanja (a.k.a Dr Jose Chameleon) to court over alleged breach of contract that caused him a loss of over UGX50 million.
Onen, said that he signed a contract with Chameleon’s manager Mr Robert Nkuke, for the musician to perform at Bomah Hotel in a concert dubbed ‘Wale Wale’ on Friday, but the singer did not turn up.
He says he negotiated to have Chameleon perform for a price of UGX6 million and made advance payment of UGX3 million. He also claims he made payment for the venue, sound system, adverts and other artistes.
The crowd that turned up for the concert on Friday demanded for a refunded when Chameleon failed to turn up.
Onen, says that when he contacted Chameleons manager Robert Nkuke, on the status of performance Friday night, he kept telling him that they were on thier way to Gulu. He however did not show up and his known phone lines were later unavailable.
Mr Nkuke however blames Onen for not heeding to their advice to cancel the show.
Nkuke says he called Onen on Wednesday informing him to cancel the show because Chameleon had “some emergency”.
On Saturday, Lira fans and the event promoter were also left disappointed when Chameleon failed to turn up at a concert at Lira Hotel in Lira town.
