KCCA FC Picks First Win In Mapinduzi Cup

Uganda League Champions KCCA FC walloped Mtende FC 3-0 last evening to pick their first win in the on-going 2015 Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar.

The defending champions who had drawn 2-2 in the opening game against Azam FC stopped the Zanzibari side in a Group B tie played at Amaan Stadium.

Herman Wasswa netted early in the first half before attacking midfielder William Wadri scored a brace later in the second half.

Wadri who also scored one of the goals in the draw against the Tanzanian League Champions Azam FC now tops the scorers chart with three goals a piece together with Young African’s Simon Msuva.

KCCA FC who will play their last Group game on Tuesday against Zanzibar League Champions KMKM now top Group B, while Azam FC who overcame KMKM 1-0 in another game played on Sunday are second.

Abdallah Mubiru, the KCCA FC Coach said that they want to keep improving as the tournament gets to the later stages.

Action in the tournament continues today with Mtibwa FC facing Mafunzo, while Emmanuel Okwi and Daniel Sserunkuma’s Simba SC who have three points will take on JKU FC in the second game.

The tournament which climaxes on January 14 will see the champions and runners-up win cash prizes.
