Kenyan Woman Held with Cocaine in Rwanda

Lovini Wanjiku Ngoroge (45,) a Kenyan national was on Friday arrested by the Rwandan Police after she was allegedly found with 2.5 kilograms of Cocaine.

The drugs in question are worth 8 million Rwandan Francs

Wanjiku was arrested at Kigali International Airport on her way from São Paulo, Brazil to Kenya and that she had allegedly made a stopover in Kigali.

Rwandan Police spokesperson Celestine Twahirwa says that Wanjiku attracted their attention and on searching her, she was found in possession of the drug in her hand bag.

The suspect is said to have, however , denied knowledge about the drug saying that she had received the bag from a friend in Brazil who requested her to transport it to Nairobi and hand it over to a sister.

Wanjiku faces a sentence of six to ten years or a fine of 10 million francs or both under the Rwandan law if found guilty.
