In a letter to the president dated January 05, Ssebagala resigned because things did not work out well as he expected.

“I joined you, your Excellency, on the understanding that things in the country would change for the better.

Unfortunately, matters of economy, democratic governance and accountability have gotten worse,” reads part of the resignation letter.

Ssebagala therefore said that he will now concentrate on struggle for freedom, good governance and democracy.

“I will now direct my energies in the struggle for freedom, democracy and good governance”

Ssebagala further apologized to his supporters for having changed course during their long walk to freedom.

“In the same vein, I wish to express my regret to all my supporters for having changed course from my original stand against dictatorship and joined it. This will never happen again”
