Police are holding two suspected iron bar hitmen in a connection to a wave of attacks on residents in Gulu municipality. The suspects are Lucky Ochora and Rashid Dolla, both residents of Labour line in Gulu town.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa regional police spokesperson says the suspects were picked up in the wee hours of Wednesday morning after unidentified woman was attacked with an iron bar.
He says the suspects were found in master keys, knife and spanner. Okema says the arrest of the duo brings to six, the number of suspected iron bar hitmen in custody.
The other suspects are Godfrey Ojok a resident of Kasubi small gate, Bosco Rubangakene, Polycarp Odokonyero, Denis Opiyo and Denis Kumakech.
He says police have so far recorded four iron bar attacks in Gulu municipality within a space of three weeks. Just last week, Leo Palayeng, a local artist and two women were attacked by iron bar hitmen.
Okema says Tegwana in Pece division is most affected. He urges members of the public to be vigilant saying Police cannot act alone in curbing criminal gangs.
