Nasty Accident Injures 15 In Soroti

Eleven people were last evening admitted at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital following a nasty accident along the Soroti-Mbale road.

The Taxi, traveling from Mbale to Soroti lost control and overturned several times.

Some of the injured are identified as Joan Akeo, Sheila Atim, Abraham Ojoo, Gideon Omoja, Rashid Ayoo, Michael Edikoi and Josephine Atalo.

Others were still unconscious and could not be identified by press time. However, Police says most of them were students, and businessmen.

Juma Hassan Nyene, the police spokesperson for East Kyoga region said the taxi registration Number UAT 662V overturned lost control between Awoja centre and Awoja Primary school and overturned injuring all 15 passengers on board.

The driver however, abandoned the damaged taxi at the scene went into hiding, notwithstanding the injuries.

Dan Ocol, one of the passengers who sustained minor injuries said that the taxi overturned three times.
