Dr Olara Otunnu, the Uganda People’s Congress president has survived a nasty accident with minor injuries.
Otunnu’s official vehicle registration number UAQ 040G over turned on Tuesday evening at Atanga-Lacek-Ocot in Angagura Sub-county in Pader district as he was returning from the memorial celebrations of the Late Archbishop Janani Luwum in Kitgum.
The UPC president, his driver and an unidentified American who was aboard the vehicle escaped with minor bruises. They were rushed to St Mary’s Hospital Lacor where they received emergency treatment.
Dr Emilton Odong, the Medical Director St Mary’s Hospital Lacor says save for the body weakness and chest pain, Otunnu didn’t sustain any serious injuries.
According to Odongo, the UPC leader received emergency treatment and was discharged from hospital.
Ambrose Sabitti, the Pader District Police Commander attributes the accident to a front tyre burst.
He says the vehicle has been towed from the accident scene Angagura Police Post as investigations continue. UPC is yet to issue an official communication about the incident.
