Phiona Kalungi, 30 a wife to the Butalejja Resident District Commissioner punched a traffic officer attached to Wandegeya police station who was on duty monitoring traffic flow around the Makerere University main gate.
It is reported that Kalungi a resident of Makerere while cruising her monster Toyota Prado registration UAU 329W was stopped by the traffic officer for the offence of driving while talking on a mobile phone.
She refused to comply and vehemently continued cruising her machine.
The traffic officer only identified as Cpl. Arinaitwe followed her up to Mulago round about where she was intercepted by the police vehicle.
She was handed a police fine receipt which she tore and threw it at the officer and started hurling insults to the officer and assaulting him in the process.
CPL Arinaitwe who had now been thoroughly thumped was saved by the officer in charge of traffic at Wandegeya who rushed to rescue him from Kalungi who was so determined to strangle him.
Kalungi was later bundled onto the police vehicle and whisked to Wandegeya police cells facing three accounts.
She has been charged with driving while operating a mobile, malicious damage of government property and assault. Her case has been registered under the file vide SD28/17/03/2015.
