Fired Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi is yet to get his terminal benefits.
According to Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, the government is expediting the process to pay off Mbabazi and other people he didn’t name.
Rugunda revealed this during a parliamentary sitting a few days ago chaired by deputy speaker Jacob Oulanya.
The premier’s statement came after Kyadondo east MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda demanded to know whether Mbabazi had been considered for his benefits after losing his job in government.
“I want to know if government has paid former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi all his benefits” Ssemujju stated during prime minister’s question time.
Rugunda responded that Mbabazi is yet to be paid. He said that government has not only paid Mbabazi his benefits but also other people who need this payment. He however, said the process of considering them was underway.
“Government is aware that former Prime Minister Mbabazi should get his benefits. It’s underway. Government is going to expedite the process of payment of benefits and Mbabazi is going to be one of those to benefit from that expeditious process” He said.
