Ex Guantanamo Bay Detainee Netted In Connection With Joan Kegezi Murder

Jamal Kiyemba a Ugandan who was formerly detained at Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba for working with terrorist group Al Qaeda was today arrested in connection with Joan Kagezi murder in Kampala.

Jamal Kiyemba was arrested in an operation carried out by the Uganda Police Force with the support of U.S. government personnel.

According the a local TV station NTV, the US Mission in Uganda has confirmed that former Guantanamo detainee Jamal Kiyemba has been detained in an operation that resulted in arrests of several individuals suspected of being involved in the assassination of Senior Principal State Attorney Joan Kagezi.

The operation was carried out by the Uganda Police Force with the support of U.S. government personnel.

According to Daniel Travis, the US Embassy spokesperson, the support was provided at the invitation of Ugandan authorities.

In the same operation, six other were netted and they are suspected to be among the killers.

Joan Kagezi was on Monday March 30, murdered by two gunmen in Kiwatule a Kampala suburb as she headed home at around 7:30pm.

At the time of the tragic incident, Joan was in the vehicle registration number UG 0586J with two her two children.

The deceased made a stopover at one of the fruit stalls on her way to Kiwatule and her killers who it appears knew her every move stopped and carried out their evil plan.
