Uganda Cup Final: KCC FC 0-3 SC Villa |32’ Augustine Nsumba, 66’ Karim Kasule, 90′ Yesseri Waibi
Sports Club Villa won their 9th Uganda Cup title after a 3-0 win against rivals KCCA FC at Nelson Mandela Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The final was re-play following an aborted Cup final match after 72 minutes on June 6th 2015 at Kyamate play ground in Ntungamo.
The game was abandoned when KCC FC fans entered the pitch protesting the decisions made by the day’s referee Robert Donney.
In the re-play officiated by Kenyan referees, KCC within the first minute had a cutting edge but Michael Birungi failed to connect it into Villa’s net.
SC Villa managed gain momentum and the 32nd minute saw Augustine Nsumba perfectly brushing Isaac Muleme’s free kick into the net.
The second half looked like a comeback for the garbage collectors after launching numerous moves on SC Villa’s goal with quest for an equalizer but every opportunity was frozen by the strong jogoo backline.
Brought in substitutes, Abdul Karim Kasule and Yesseri Waibi continued to pile more misery on KCC FC as were involved in the 3-0 thriller.
Kasule Abdul Karim dribbled past Namwanji Simon before leaving the entire defence hands-off to net from 25 yards with a left footer that bounced past Ochan.
Yesseri Waibi managed to convert an out of 18 yards box free kick with a left foot belter that went directly into the net.
KCC were later reduced to 10 men when defender Timothy Awani was red carded after fouling Chrysostom Ntambi.
Both sides have met four times in a Uganda Cup final with either sides winning twice, Villa beat KCC 1-0 in 1983 and 3-0 in 2015 while KCC FC beat Villa 1-0 in 1987 and 3-0 in 1990.
