FUFA through its arm that regulates the conduct, professionalism of refereeing in Uganda has suspended referee Robert Donney in response to the controversial abandoned Uganda Cup final between SC Villa and KCC at the Kyamate Sports ground in Ntungamo district.
The referees standing committee headed by Sam Mpiima revealed this to the media at the Federation’s head offices in Mengo on Wednesday morning that; “Donney had been suspended for 4 months due to poor performance during the aborted SC Villa and KCCA FC Uganda Cup final at Kyamate play ground.”
His other assistants, Musa Balikowa (first assistant referee), Robert Bakwali (second assistant referee) and the fourth official Brian Miiro Nsubuga also got 2 months suspension off the whistle.
It should be recalled that the Uganda Cup final between KCC and Villa played on the 6th of June was abandoned in the 72nd minute with the name Robert Donney being at the centre for all the controversy.
However, Donney has come out to rub-off all reports linking him to serve a four months ban.
“That is news to me because I personally have not yet received anything related to the suspension, nobody has written to me or even called me about such a scenario,” Donney said.
The suspension started to count from July 01, 2015.
