The Uganda Kobs hopes of qualifying for the 2015 CAF U-23 championship suffered a major blow following a whopping 4-0 defeat to Egypt at the Al Borg El Arab stadium in Alexandria on Saturday.
Muhammad Salem with just 9 minutes onto the referee’s clock had scored an early opener for the young Pharaohs.
Later in the second half, Mahmoud Trezeguet’s brace continued to pile more misery on the Kobs side before Ramadan Sobhy completed the assault.
Uganda’s only clear chance to bag a consolation came during the 72nd minute when CS Sfaxien striker, Yunus Sentamu rounded off goal keeper Mosaad Awad but kicked the ball inches off the Phalaoah’s goal.
Kobs head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic tried to make changes when he introduced skipper Erisa Ssekisambu for Tadeo Lwanga and industrious John Ssemazzi but there was no change on the score board.
The team returns on Monday at 1:00PM in preparation for the return leg.
