Kaggwa was released today morning after social media hashtag #FreeVicent went viral on social media demanding for his release.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga confirmed Kaggwa’s release.

Vincent Kaggwa was this morning been released on police bond. He was in possession of campaign materials of one presidential aspirant,” he said.

He added; “The materials were meant to be distributed on Eid day at places of worship, this would disrupt Eid day celebrations. The law allows police to prevent intended crime.”

Enanga’s comment came hours after NTV Uganda aired a story indicating that Vincent was missing.

In response, Police promised to clarify his whereabouts today morning.

Vincent was picked by the flying squad of police last week from his residence in Wandegeya.

Ever since Mbabazi publicly declared his desire to stand for presidency in mid June this year, a number of his supporters have been detained, chiefly accused of organizing unlawful assembly.
