Meanwhile, those who are going to participate in NRM primaries for MP are in huge trouble after information leaked that there is a plot to block all of them from standing as independents in case they lose primary elections.
This plot was tactfully included in the NRM electoral guidelines which were recently given out to the aspiring candidates.
We have been told that within the guidelines, there is a clause that suggests that the aspirant will respect the outcome of the primaries.
In this, the party wanted to corner the aspirants by blocking them from standing as independents after losing.
“Some people thought that Tanga was just frying grasshoppers when he gave them those guidelines. They were actually a rope tied around their neck. All those who have participated in primaries will not be allowed to stand as independents after losing. Those who will insist are going to be blocked,” sources stated.
According to the plan, the NRM EC chairman Tanga Odoi is supposed to forward the list of NRM flag bearers to national EC chairman Badru Kiggundu before they get nominated.
In the meantime, the party is planning to go to court to seek a permanent injunction against all losers from standing as independents.
Those who will insist will have their battle taken to court where Tanga is going to table their documents which they signed.
To NRM, the guidelines were actually an understanding between the aspirant and the party which binds both parties.
