Clerk of Parliament office has postponed session that was set to be hosted on 1st September to discuss the creation of new districts, Non Governmental Organisation Bill (2015) and loan requests.
According to the statement released by the office of the clerk yesterday, dated 26th August, 2015, legislators will be informed the due date when the session will be convened.
“You will recall that you were earlier informed through a letter of even reference dated 21st August, 2015 on the above subject (Instruction to hold a special sitting on 1st September, 2015) that you would be required to attend a special sitting… I have been directed to inform you that the said communication stands withdrawn. Further communication will be conveyed in the due course,” the statement reads.
President Yoweri Museveni had written to Parliament to convene the special sitting.
Last week, Local Government Minister Adolf Mwesige, presented a motion seeking to create 23 new districts spread across four financial years.
Districts to be created include Kagadi, Kakumiro, Omoro and Rubanda, Namisindwa, Pakwach, Butebo, Rukiga, Kyotera and Bunyangabu, Nabilatuk, Bugweri, Kasanda, Kwania, Kapelebyong and Kikuube, Obongi, Kazo, Rwampara, Kitagwenda, Madi Okollo, Kalenga and Kalaki.
Recently, legislators agreed on the need to regulate Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) but said government should not make stringent laws curbing their operations during the debate Non Governmental Organisation Bill (2015) debate.
