The voting trend among voters in Kigezi has taken a different shape.
The voters mainly those of Kabale have now resorted to social media platforms to express their support for their candidates.
The main point of contention is on who is supposed to be the next woman MP for Kabale.
With Hope Mwesigye reported to be making a comeback after her defeat in 2011 and incumbent Ronah trying her luck, voters have now shifted support to Victoria Atukunda Abigail.
In a recent survey done by Voice of Kigezi fans on who should lead their district, it was discovered that 89% of the voters on social media prefer a change of leadership.
They were asked on who they want to represent them as woman MP. The candidates were Hope Mwesigye, Ronah Ninsiima and Abigail Atukunda.
However, the survey among Facebook users indicated that even FDC supporters and UPC are willing to compromise with NRM in case Atukunda is given the flag for woman MP.
The opinion poll was conducted by a local organisation called ‘Kigezi 2016 Agenda’! The poll was conducted from July22-August22/2015.
On this woman MP seat for Kabale, the candidates are ATUKUNDA VICTORIA ABIGAIL, CATHERINE NDAMIRA, KIHUMURO PAMELA, EDINAH RUTASIKWA, HOPE MWESIGYE and NINSIMA RONAH RITAH.
According to the poll, Atukunda got 85%, Ninsiima 6%, Ndamira 4%, Kihumuro 2% and the rest 1%.
The polling is now going to rate kabala women contestants basing on constituency level.
Meanwhile, we have learnt that a local voter from Muhanga village [Kabale] has petitioned NRM EC boss Tanga Odoi questioning the papers of one of the contestants. Watch the space!!
