NSSF Injects Shs70m in KAVC Volleyball Tournament

National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has injected Shs70million in the19th edition of the NSSF –KAVC Volleyball international Championship that rolls-off from the 8th to 9th August 2015.


While launching the fete on Tuesday morning at the body’s headquarters, Workers house in Kampala, NSSF managing director, Richard Byarugaba revealed that the body is committed to supporting sports development in the country, Volleyball in particular.

“We take the pleasure to coming out and support Volleyball in Uganda, we NSSF will continue at extending what we know best and that is to develop sports in the country and with funding such an international tournament, we understand that they enhance competitiveness to our local teams through exposure,”  Byarugaba noted.

Clubs from countries like Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan Democratic Republic of Congo and hosts Uganda have already confirmed their participation.

Local clubs, KAVC, VVC, KCCA, Ndejje Elites, Sky, Nkumba, Sport S, COBAP, and Old Kampala have confirmed their participation in the two day tourney..

Kenyan Administration Police, Prisons, GSU, KCB and Pipelines were invited, while Rwanda’s Revenue Authority, Rayon Sport, APR, Inatek, Kigali Volleyball Club also received invitations.

The other foreign teams expected include Tnazania’s Jesh Stars and Prisons, Ruzinko and Muzinga from Burundi, Pharm Warriors, Cobra from South Sudan and DRC’s Espoir.

US $1,000 (about Shs 3.5m) will be the prize money for the winners in the men and women categories while  for the first time there will be a third place playoff where the winner of the tie will take home US$300.
