President Museveni yesterday said he is ready for debate with Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Kizza Besigye or anybody else for a televised presidential candidate
Addressing a press conference at the UPDF 4th Division headquarters in Gulu Town, Museveni said he ready for Besigye, Mbabazi or anybody else from near or far.
“Well, debating with Besigye or anybody else, I have no problem. You can see am mobile with mouth. I don’t leave it at home. If I left my mouse at home, I would be concerned,” he said, adding “So, am ready for Besigye, for Mbaabzi, for anybody from near or far.”
He was responding to Besigye who recently at a rally in Busia dared Museveni president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer to come for a presidential debate and they show the truth.
President Museveni has earlier criticized Kizza Besigye for promising to increase teachers’ salary to one million if elected president.
“You know in other countries, those contesting engage in a debate together, I want Museveni to come and sit with other candidates so that each can show how their proposals will work,” Besigye said in Luganda stirring up cheers from the crowd. “I should not talk here and he goes to Koboko and says he is a liar.”
If put in place, the live debate will be the first of its nature between candidates vying for presidency in Uganda’s political history.
