Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate spent yesterday canvassing for support in the northern Uganda district of Arua where he was swarmed by huge crowds.
Accompanied by embattled Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Kassiano Wadri, Besigye’s massive crowds excited his diehards on social media.
“Addressing a massive rally for Dr. Besigye in Arua town right now. We combed through various parts of Arua district in the mid-morning and the people demonstrated enormous support for Dr. Besigye. Change is around the corner,” Lukwago said as he accompanied Besigye.
Besigye campaign came after Ayivu County Member of Parliament, Bernard Atiku who is contesting as independent after deafeat in FDC primaries crossed to the ruling party, National Resistance Movement. He has already started campaigning for President Yoweri Museveni in the 2016 general election.
Atiku said he has been forced to quit the largest opposition party because of intrigues and engineered by FDC MPs Kassiano Wadri and Christine Abia Bako.
Kassiano Wadri recently denied links with former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi who is contesting as an independent candidate in the presidential race when the latter named him on his campaign task force.
