Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye yesterday spent the day canvassing for support in Koboko district where he sent a stern warning to State Minister for Youth and Children Evelyne Anite.
Besigye said he learnt that Anite was moving around trying to intimidate and stop people from attending his rally.
Addressing a rally at Obachi Grounds – Koboko Town, he warned Anite to be careful, saying that people like Amama Mbabazi are leaving Museveni.
“If people like Amama Mbabazi are leaving Museveni who is this girl called Anite? I have been told that she has been moving around town intimidating and harassing people, such people should be careful,” Dr. Kizza Besigye said.
In February 2014, Anite spearheaded a move to virtually determine the fate of Uganda’s presidency up to 2021 when she engineered and led the infamous move to arm-twist members of the ruling NRM to endorse Museveni as their sole candidate.
This marked the end of Amama Mbabazi’s perceived presidential ambitions, in particular to replace president Museveni. He was later sacked as prime minister and dropped as NRM secretary general.
Amama Mbabazi is contesting for president as an independent candidate.
