Former Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC defender, Savio Kabugo has joined Uganda Revenue Authority FC for a season long deal.
Kabugo has been out of competitive football for almost a year following a knee injury and the deadly car accident suffered on June 2nd 2015 during KCCA FC’s journey to Kyamate in Ntungamo for the Uganda Cup final against Sports Club Villa.
He last played a competitive league fixture on December 12th, 2014 after featuring in a match when Sports Club Victoria University hosted Bright Stars.
Transferring his services to KCCA FC, the combatant defender suffered another injury and he was released by the then newly signed technical bench of Mike Mutebi and Sam Ssimbwa.
He has been training with URA FC for over 3 months.
Savio Kabugo too posted on his Facebook page confirming the move.
“Am happy to join URA FC and also meeting my former teams Feni Ali(Proline) and Elkanah Nkugwa (Mulusa Academy), my football is going to increase and even go back to the cranes.”
Meanwhile URA FC’s head Coach Kefa Kisala revealed his expectations after signing the Uganda Cranes defender.
“We are so happy that we have acquired the signature of Savio, his joint expected backline with Richard Kasagga is opt to be one of those paired well organized defence lines in Uganda’s top flight League” Kisala remarked.
Kabugo joins Richard Kasagga Jjuuko, Bob Kasozi and a host of other defenders at the back line of the tax collectors.
URA FC is 7th with 15 points out of their 10 match encounters on the 16 team log of Azam Uganda Premier league.
