Makerere University’s 66th graduation kicked off yesterday at the institution’s Freedom Square.
The newly installed Makerere University Chancellor; Prof Ezra Suruma presided over the ceremony that began yesterday at 9:00am.
Students from college of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES), College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Bio-security (CoVAB), College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS),and School of Law graduated.
The on-going graduation ceremony that ends on Friday will see students receive Doctorates, Masters Degrees, Post Graduate Diplomas and Undergraduate qualifications.
Students from the colleges of Education and External Studies (CEES),
Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS) are graduating today.
The third day will see degrees awarded to students from colleges of Health Science (CHS) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS)
The last day is set for College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS) and College of Computing and Information Sciences (CoCIS).
Makerere is set to graduate at least 13,712 students in the four-day event.
Makerere has warned that some electronics and food items are not allowed at the graduation ceremony.
The prohibited items include mobile phones, alcohol, dangerous weapons, canned food and drinks, Cameras (video and still cameras), pocket radio, Fire arms, Bottled drinks, batteries and chemicals, large bags among others.
