FDC’s presidential candidate Rtd Col Dr. Kizza Besigye has been arrested by Police at the Party headquarters in Najjanankumbi along Entebbe road.
Besigye was arrested alongside top party officials Mugisha Muntu, Ingrid Turinawe and Wasswa Biriggwa.
It is reported that they were arrested because they were planning to declare their own results.
Yesterday after casting his vote at Kaaro high school in Kiruhura district, President Museveni warned that whoever tries to announce results will be deep-frozen.
“There will be no violence. If anyone tries, we will put them in a deep freezer and they will cool down,” Museveni roared
Yesterday, EC boss Eng. Badru Kiggundu also warned opposition candidates and media houses not announce their own results.
Prior the Arrest, Police fired teargas at FDC supporters who had gathered that the party headquarters.
Entebbe road has been blocked and police has deployed heavily.
Besigye’s yesterday Arrest
Besigye was arrested when he joined his supporters and they stormed a house in Naguru, a Kampala upscale suburb arguing that there is alleged vote rigging taking place.
There was a standoff as Besigye and supporters demanded police open the house and in the scuffle, Besigye was arrested.
Besigye was later driven to his home in Kasangati.
