Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere has urged President Museveni to accept defeat and hand over power if he loses the coming presidential elections.
Mumbere made the call after meeting Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Kizza Besigye on Friday morning at Buhikira royal palace in Kasese district.
“Uganda has been going through terrible situation, blood situation, I think enough is enough,” Mumbere said while addressing media after the meeting.
Adding; “If president loses, for the interest of Ugandans whom he fought for, whom he liberated when he was in the bush for five years, he (Museveni) should accept defeat and go home.”
Mumbere distanced himself from claims that he may backing the FDC candidate saying that meeting political leaders’ means that he is partisan.
“We are not partisan we cultural leaders but we still have constitutional right to interact with any political leader in the country. For us here in Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, for me to meet political leaders, it does not mean that I am partisan. I am still neutral.”
Uganda goes to polls in less than two weeks in a tight presidential race between president Museveni, Kizza Besigye and Amama Mbabazi.
