The ministry of foreign affairs has refuted allegations on social media that Sam Kutesa is calling upon International community to denounced president Museveni’s victory in the presidential elections last week.
In a press statement issued yesterday, the ministry said Sam Kutesa is not the author of the message.
“The ministry wishes to inform the general public and the international community that Hon. Sam Kutesa is neither the source, nor the author of messages and the Facebook account purportedly in his name is a poor attempt at impersonation,” the statement reads.
The messages posted on a pseudo account in the names of Sam Kutesa claimed that the Minister’s right to communicate using public media outlets had been curtailed calling the international community not to recognise Museveni as the president of Uganda.
“The message is malicious and intended to cause alarm and discredit the person of the honourable minster, His Excellency the president, and the recently concluded elections in Uganda,” the statement noted.
“The ministry calls the general public and the international community to treat these falsehoods with the contempt they deserve,” the statement further reads.
The Incumbent Member of Parliament for Mawogola county sailed through unopposed after all his rivals bowed out of the parliamentary race that swallowed his colleagues and a number of powerful ministers.
Kutesa is expected to play a vital in the 10th parliament as a senior minister.
