Police Grills Wafula Oguttu over Besigye’s “swearing in ceremony”

Former leader of opposition in Parliament Hon. Wafula Oguttu yesterday appeared before Special Investigations Division to answer questions on why he graced Besigye’s swearing in ceremony.

Kizza Besigye, a four time presidential candidate was ‘sworn in’ as president, a day before incumbent Yoweri Museveni’s inauguration last week.

A video of the ceremony went viral on social media prompting government to arrest Kizza Besigye who is facing treason charges.

Wafula arrived at Special Investigations Division in Kireka at around 11:00AM and spent over two hours in the hot seat-being questioned.

He was accompanied by Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda.

“There are no charges. They told me I was coming to explain circumstances under which I attended swearing ceremony of Dr. Kizza Besigye,” Oguttu told journalists.

Party chairman Wasswa Biriggwa and Geoffrey Ekanya who attended the swearing in ceremony have also been summoned.

Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda said Wasswa Biriggwa is still outside the country while Geoffrey Ekanya is attending election petition in Mbale. However, he assured police that the duo will come.
