Chief Justice Bart Katurebe has vowed to end court attacks in form of demonstrations that are aimed at obstructing court sessions.
The chief Justice has said this while meeting journalists at his office today morning.
Justice Katurebe made the claims following a woeful incident that happened yesterday at Makindye magistrate’s court where pro-Kayihura supporters stormed the court under the guise of stopping court proceeding against the IGP who was to answer charges of torturing Besigye supporters last month.
According to Justice Katurebe, these demonstrations are aimed at intimidating judges and lawyers on the case, urging whoever is mobilizing their supporters to come and disrupt court proceedings to stop.
“Let the courts do its work, let the judges do their work without interference,” Says Chief Justice, Bart Katureebe. “It’s wrong for people to mobilise mobs to come and frighten us or intimidate us, It’s just wrong” he added.
The Chief Justice therefore promised to engage with relevant authorities to ensure that such incidents are not repeated at courts.
