Oscar Pistorius: Jailed athlete treated in hospital for injuries
Jailed South African athlete Oscar Pistorius has received treatment in hospital, with one report saying he had injuries to his wrists.
A prison service spokesman declined to give details of the athlete’s injuries, citing medical privacy.
He said that Pistorius had hurt himself falling out of bed.
Last month, prosecutors said his six-year jail sentence for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was too lenient and they would appeal.
A report by City Press said Pistorius had been taken to hospital on Saturday. It quoted an unnamed security guard at Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria as saying the athlete had wounds to his wrists that had been bandaged.
It said blades had been found in a subsequent search of Pistorius’s cell.
Following treatment, the athlete had been returned to prison, AP news agency said.
