Kadaga Demands Probe Into M7 Appointments
Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has demanded an investigation into the appointment of public officials by the country’s President, Yoweri Museveni.
The Speaker’s directive stems from a petition presented to the Appointments Committee on Wednesday, by Kawempe North MP Latif Ssebagala, questioning the recent appointments of members of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
A source within the committee, which approved six members of the JSC, says Ssebagala questioned the repeated appointments without due consideration to Muslims.
Lawmakers on appointments committee have approved the newly appointed members of the judicial service commission on Wednesday. The committee chaired by Kadaga approved the chairperson Justice Benjamin Kabito, Ruth Sebatindira, Norah Matovu, Laban Kirya, Rose Nyakikongoro, Amongin Aporu and Justine Mugabi.
