President Museveni is expected to attend the memorial lecture in honour of fallen former Internal Affairs Minister and CDF, Gen Aronda Nyakairima at Makerere University Main Hall today.
The former UPDF Commander died last September of a heart related ailment aboard a flight from Seoul in South Korea.
Several high profile speakers are expected to attend the lecture in honor of the departed army general.
Apart from the President of Uganda, the Chief of Defense Forces Gen Edward Katumba Wamala is expected to deliver the key note address on his predecessor.
Family members, friends, former workmates, bush war comrades and mere citizens are all expected to attend the lecture organized by the National Association of Youth Entrepreneurs Uganda (NAYE).
The death of Gen Aronda Nyakairima at the age of 56 came as a great shock to the nation as his sickness was unknown, according to family members.
Following his death, President Yoweri Museveni directed medical checkups in the UPDF to be streamlined and for physical health of all soldiers to be emphasized by all commanders through compulsory refresher courses.
