M7 To Look After Families Of Former MPs

The President of Uganda H.E Yoweri K Museveni has pledged to work on the welfare of the families of former MPs in a bid to honour them for their great contribution to the development of the country.

“We are going to work on the welfare of the former MPs and their descendants,” Museveni said.

President Museveni said this while presiding over the Golden Jubilee awards ceremony organized by the parliament of Uganda.

The ceremony happened today at Kampala Serena hotel where more than 1000 former and current MPs were awarded medals in recognition of their contribution to the country.

According to Museveni, 1,000 is not a big number, and he is going to handle it.

He says the issue of welfare is solvable because we are moving well economically.

He however warned those families to avoid bringing the entire clan and call them descendants of former MPs in a bid to get a bigger share.

Among the awarded is the family of his strong rival Rtd Col Dr. Kizza Besigye, but it remains unrealistic whether he will also have a share on the bread that Museveni is preparing for these former MPs.
