Wankulukuku based Express FC has been made to play their next home game with no fans in addition to a fine of Shs300, 000.
This intends to punish the club because of hooliganism its fans showed during the Saturday October 1, game with Kirinya Jinja SS FC at Wankulukuku stadium.
According to a statement released by the Uganda Premier League Secretariat today, Referee’s Report over that day’s incident indicates that at the end of the match, Express FC fans attacked match officials and beat up one of the assistant referees and took his phones in the scuffle.
Despite several sanctions against the club in regard to fans hooliganism and violence at the club’s home and away matches, there have been no signs of improvement.
It is from this point therefore that the Uganda Premier League Secretariat has decided to invoke Article 33, 2(h) of the FUFA Competitions Rules to make Express FC play their next home game without spectators in addition to a fine payable to the Secretariat before their next league game.
The Secretariat also warned that it will not hesitate to come out with more stringent measures should the club fail to comply with the directive.
