Japanese Envoy calls for urgent deployment of Regional Force in Juba

The Japanese ambassador to South Sudan has called for an urgent deployment of the Regional Protection Force in Juba to provide security.
Kiya Mashiko’s call comes a day after sacked Vice President Dr. Riek Machar vowed to return to his ancestral country
Machar who fled the country in August, in an interview, told Uganda’s NBS TV that he is free to return to South Sudan any time he wants without necessarily negotiating with the government.
Speaking to Juba-based Eye radio on Tuesday, Mashiko said some of the projects Japan was supporting are not progressing because of the conflict.
These include the construction of one of the main bridges in Juba worth over 40 million dollars.
He says the projects may resume if there are assurances on security, which he says could be possible after the deployment of the regional protection force.
