Kampala Street Vendors are Going Nowhere — Lukwago

Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has said street vendors in the city are going nowhere.

This comes after the Minister for Kampala Betty Olive Namisango Kamya directed KCCA to evict vendors off the streets.

“Kamya should stop uttering statements of evicting vendors who are less privileged,” roared Lukwago before adding that; “She should respect Kampala Capital City Authority leaders and decisions it makes.”

Kamya argues that the eviction of vendors is driven by the forces of demand.

“This time it is demand driven by the traders, by different road users of Kampala City,” revealed Kamya adding that; “Last year KCCA collected Shs87billion from taxes, but if we go on like this KCCA is likely to collect anything less than Shs50billion.”

This website understands that there will be a battle of supremacy between the Lord Mayor and the Kampala Minister. We wait to see where this ends!!
