The immigration department at the border in Busia has intercepted Sarah Nabikolo the widow of the late Kampala business man Eriya Bugembe aka Kasiwukira as she tried to cross into Kenya.
Busia District Police Commander, Nelson Nahabwe, confirmed the interception and the brief detention of Nabikilo.
“She was moving to Mombasa,” Nahabwe said.
A migration officer who did not want to be named said Nibikolo had a passport and a driving permit with different names but she had presented a driving permit.
Nabikolo was recently acquitted of murder charges of her husband by the High Court judge Musene but 2 of her co accused were convicted.
The Directorate of Public Prostitution State however appealed against her acquittal, which might be a reason as to why she was trying to escape.
Kasiwukira was knocked dead by a speeding car near his home in Muyenga a Kampala suburb as he was jogging in 2014.
