MPs ‘Stampede’ Banks For Vehicle Dimes, Find Empty Accounts
Ugandan lawmakers on Wednesday made a frenzied rush to their bank accounts to withdraw the controversial money meant for their cars.
This followed media reports that the Parliamentary Commission had wired Shs43.2 billion to their accounts for their vehicle purchase.
The reports also showed that Shillings 100 million had been deposited on the account of each legislator. The money is part of the Shs150 million each MP is entitled to for the vehicle purchase to facilitate their movements to their constituencies.
Several legislators were forced to flcok their respective banks to ascertain whether they had received the money on their accounts in vain.
