By Serestino Tusingwire
Police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi has said that the Rwenzururu royal guards who put the country on tension over the weekend were fighting for medals put by their king Wesley Mumbere.
While addressing journalists on Tuesday morning at Kasese police station, Kaweesi said police had recovered gold medals given to those who would fearlessly fight.
“We have recovered golden medals given to those who would fearlessly fight. Whoever would kill 10 policemen would be given a golden medal and one who killed 5 would be given a silver medal.” Kaweesi said.
Kaweesi said that postmortem has already started and when it’s finalized, people will come and identify their relatives for burial.
He added that amnesty will be given to those who didn’t participate and ran away, after they have cleared with the RDC office.
Meanwhile, death toll has already exceeded 100 after more 25 dead bodies have been recovered in the sub-counties of Maliba and Bugoye.
