Ssematimba Election Petition Ruling Date Set
By Serestino Tusingwire
Court of Appeal has set 21st November, 2016 as the date to rule on whether the Busiro South MP, Peter Sematimba should be kicked out of parliament.
The panel of three judges who are expected to rule on this case will be led by the Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma.
Sematimba rushed to the Court of Appeal after the High Court judge, Justice Lydia Mugambe ruled that he did not have the necessary academic documents to be a legislator.
Ssematimba’s legality of being in parliament was challenged by his arch-rival Stephen Sekigozi who claimed that the former’s academic qualifications were lacking.
Court will therefore give a final verdict which will leave him with no other options just in case it rules against him.
