By Serestino Tusingwire
The minister of works and transport Monica Azuba Ntege has revealed that her ministry has launched the vehicle inspection campaign that will impound vehicles in dangerous mechanical condition this festive season.
Minister Ntege said this during today’s plenary.
According to Min. Ntege, this campaign is to eliminate all the vehicles that are in bad condition since they are the main cause of accidents and they also cause air pollution.
Ntege said that the inspection will be automated with no human subjectivity for components which seriously affect the safety of the vehicle such as; brakes, wheel alignment, exhaust smoke, headlamps and suspension.
Meanwhile, three checking points have already been put in place to help in the process.
These include the one in Kawanda on Bombo road, Namulanda on Entebbe road, and Nabbingo on Masaka road.
The others to be built soon will be situated in Namanve on Jinja road, and later on, others will be built in Gulu, Mbale and Mbarara.
