Former Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) chairman has blasted opposition’s Rtd. Col. Dr Kizza Besigye for politicizing Makerere issues.
Besigye at the start of December came out with a fundraiser campaign to raise the Shs28bn as incentive arrears for lecturers, faulting the government for failing to pay them and instead opt to closing the university.
While speaking at an education symposium dubbed ‘Purposeful Education Forum (PEF)’ in Lira town on Tuesday, Mande who was a keynote speaker said Museveni was right to close the university.
“I hate the bad politics both Dr. Kizza Beisgye and Norbert Mao are playing following a wise decision on Makerere University padlocking. Their actions are unjustifiable as far as the University administration is concerned,” Fajil said.
He further blasted the entire administration of Makerere University for instilling the spirit of indiscipline amongst themselves and learners adding that a lot of rot is yet to be uncovered.
“I believe in investigation which I believe will give the country exactly what has been in there for years. How students keep dying and every system is quite about it,” he asked.
He however advised the university management to revise and improve its methods of work saying the rampant strikes in schools are just a result of poor management.
“Uganda lacks competent statutory committee to work out better ways of ending the strikes. Even the over 15 different directorates are dead,” he reasoned.
