The Executive Director of Oxfam International, Winnie Byanyima has said she is ready to take on Uganda’s presidency when provided an opportunity.
In an interview with NBS television on Saturday, Byanyima, 57, also a wife to opposition diehard Dr Kizza Besisye, clearly stated that she feels the ability to lead Uganda when need comes.
“I now know that I can do it, absolutely!! I have the ability or even a passion to change our country.” She said before adding that, “So if one day there is an opportunity and there is a team I believe in that shares my vision that wants me to lead it, I will rise.”
Byanyima however admitted to the fact that she cannot push herself to lead the people who are not willing to take on her leadership.
“But politics is a game of teams, it’s about a collective, it’s not about you propelling and pushing yourself.”
Byanyima challenged Ugandans most especially students for failing to come out and protest against the Kasese massacre that happened of recent.
“People are being managed to fear, I have seen that in this country. Look at what happened in Kasese, but up to now I haven’t seen a group of students matching, holding candles and protesting.” She wondered.
She however assured the country that her and the husband Besigye can never work against each other because they are in the same team.
