Police FC Terminates Contracts of 3 Senior Players over betting

Police football club has parted ways with three senior players over betting and match fixing.

The club captain Katerega Godfrey and his assistant Kyambadde Sadat are accused of betting and throwing away team matches while their teammate Senyonjo Peter left to United Arab Emirates to his own frolic without the club’s consent.

According to the club chairman Afande Hassan Kasingye the contracts of the three have been terminated with immediate effect and are free to join any other club.

“I am informing you with a heavy heart, that Police FC has parted company with three of its senior player. Katerega Godfrey and Kyambadde Sadat for betting and throwing away team matches and Senyonjo Peter who has gone to UAE on his own frolic without the clubs consent. We have canceled their contracts and wish them well elsewhere.” Afande Kasingye said.

Behaviors related to match betting fixing are internationally prohibited and can lead the club or players to a heavy ban or fine.

Police FC plays in the Azam Uganda Premier league and it has been running on poor form with only two wins in their last 5 matches.

It is currently the 13th on the table standings.
